I'll be the first to say that Roger Waters was a magnificent song writer/producer/musician, but did everyone forget about David Gilmour? It WAS David who came on with Floyd and gave the band a MUCH needed boost after the downfall of Syd Barret. No matter what anyone says, I credit Gilmour with the turn that Floyd took after Piper. A Saucerful of Changes, aptly titled by the way, was a nice change in a new direction, and Gilmour had a lot to do with it. I think that it was unfortunate that he had to play second fiddle to Waters, because DG is obviously a great songwriter and musician. He is able to show that on this album. I fault him a little in trying to make this a "solo" album instead of a Floyd album, I just think that he ignored Floyd's sound and just tried to run with what he had in his head. It turned out to be a good thing fortunately, as this is one of the best Floyd albums. It has a very laid back sound, however it is more positive than Waters' "solo" albums. I think DG has aged a little better than RW, you can tell in his vocals. I like the fact that this album reflects the time it was released, but it is still noticeably Pink Floyd. If you liked More's melodic stance, and you are open to new sounds and techniques, I think you will like this album. It is very moody and relaxing. It is also more a representation of Pink Floyd since Waters wasn't present. Having said that, I think that if they wanted to get together and work on something new, it would be exciting... hopefully we will get something soon.
