Outlandos D'amour

See...sting DID have a sense of humor once!

Lets face it. As time went on sting got more and more stuck on himself and forgot what unpretentious rock and roll is all about. This first release from his group the Police was everything his solo career hasn't been. Fresh, uninhibited, raw but smooth, and above all...fun! You won't find the arrogance that permeates from later Police recordings and nearly all of Stings solo efforts.

From the pounding beginning of "Next To You" all the way to the infective groove of "Masoko Tanga" this recording is a fun thrill ride. One of Stings' best vocal efforts is in the classic "So Lonely" and how can you not crack a smile at the escapades involving our hero in "Can't Stand Losing You"(you don't ever wanna see me again...and your brothers gonna kill me and he"s six feet ten!)

Put together Stings driving reggae bass, Summers simple but captivating guitar work and Copelands unbelievable driving drums and you've got a classic new wave gem.
