A great pop-punk-reggae-rock-debut from The Police!

"Outlandos" has got to be the best Police album, considering the songs were/or had the potential of become dynamite Top-40 hits. Mixing pop-rock and reggae, with some subtle punk musings Sting, Summers and Copeland took this bad-boy through both Heaven and Hell--the rough and the refined. Despite the slight fuzziness of the recording and the occasional flubbed note, "Outlandos" is a musical-outing that is often underrated but NEVER duplicated. Sloppy-precision on the instruments and Sting's beautifully-whiny vocals, give it the feel of intellectual, mainstream pop-punk. A fun and groovin' record undoubtedly, with low-down bass chops, floating guitar licks and metallic drum beats! Highlights include: "So Lonely" (killer--thee best this LP has to offer!!), "Roxanne," "Can't Stand Losing You" and "Next to You." Down-sides: "Hole in My Life" (realistically dull) and "Be My Girl-Sally" (which is humorous, but begins to wear after a few go-arounds). Grab this one on CD and make it part of your eccletic collection!!!!
