The best album The Police has ever made
Review Score:

(10/10)
When you begin to listen to this CD, you're amazed by the dynamics and energy radiated by the first 6 songs. You knit your eyebrows with "O My God", "Mother" and "Miss Gradenko", but these are great songs, The Police finally forgot the monotonous reggae sound of their earliest records and focused in the creation of new and good music, based on their punk roots but adding effects and sounds never heard before. Why no one likes "Mother"? It's like "On The Run" on Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" or "Tomorrow Never Knows" on the Beatles' "Revolver": very very weird, but it gives a new perspective and meaning to the album and makes it worthwhile. I think people that can't listen these tracks must purchase a "Greatest Hits" album, the radio waves already made them a lot of harm.
Of course, the latter tracks are also excellent, the singles ("Breath", "Pain" and "Finger") make a big contrast with the former tracks, and the atmosphere created by the sonic textures of the songs moves the album into a new landscape, crafting the spare (and today timeless) Police trademark, producing moods and feelings rarely felt in 80's music and confirming this is the best record ever made by Andy and Gordon Summers and Stewart Copeland.
Ah, don't forget the astounding interplay of these musicians. Great drums, bass, guitar, and keyboards! The singing and lyrics are also excellent, pretty dark but lovely...
Why haven't you listened to it? Move on!
