Rhapsody's ability to unite symphonic and heavy metal riffs is absolutely awesome. Who knew the finesse of the violin could have a place in this often abrasive genre? In "Symphony of Enchanted Lands" the violins are every bit as important as Luca Turilli's lightning-fast guitar riffs. Luca Turilli and Alex Staropoli are without a doubt two of the most incredible musicians active today, besides being prodigiously talented at their respective instruments, the guitar and the keyboard. It's hard for me to imagine that they are virtual unknowns in AMerica. It makes me worry that metal may be leaning toward the same fate as classical music, at least as far as the states are concerned (we have no taste!). The songs on "Symphony" are all excellent, but above all the rest, I must recomment "The Dark Tower of the Abyss." Here the marriage of metal and baroque reaches its finest (try to ignore the obnoxious spoken parts if you can). Everyone should have this CD. Don't hold back because you don't like heavy metal. If you like music that is well-played and well-written, you will absolutely love Rhapsody.
