"Madrigal", is very melodic and soothing, once again, I'm not good at explaing too much in words
"Cygnus X-1", which I said I totally hated, has oddly enough turned out to be what I consider my personal favorite of the album, this along with the album was a grower. To me this song sounds as if it didn't belong with the other songs on the album. It sounds as if it started a whole other album of it's own (The first part of "Hemispheres", oddly enough) This song is a little bit shorter than "Xanadu", but much, much more complicated. The last two vocal parts of the song really gives the listener a fright while Geddy lee is screaming at the top of his lungs against the backdrop of the dark keys of the guitar and bass, while Neil Peart is beating the drums into submission. It is total insanity. My personal favorite part of the song is when they get into this explosive rock section in the key of E,and the beat and key are repeated simultaneously. I have no idea what the time signature is (I think it gets 8 beats a count) it's really complicated, but I love it. Only musical geniuses can play music like this. Someone said that Rush's music is like a classical piece, where you have to strive to listen to the message and the music, that person was right This song, particularly the section that I mentioned as my favorite,is enough to drive the average music listener nuts. It might not be easy for every listener to keep up with those insane tempos because I think this type of music is for SERIOUS music fans with patience, and an attention span.
The reason why I like Rush so much is that they put alot of atmosphere in their music. They have a sound like no other It's just so hard to put how I really feel about theit music into words. I think they were an underrated band with an exceptional talent to make good music.
All in all, a great album by Rush It took time to grow on me,and is was worth the wait, and as I said before, I think the best albums are the ones that take time to grow!
thanks for reading my review!
