Early 80's Metal From One Of Rock's Best NWOBHM Acts!

Saxon were part of the NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) that was becoming popular in the late 70's/early 80's. Groups such as Def Leppard, Iron Maiden,Tygers Of Pan Tang, Motorhead and Saxon were part of the vast number of bands that were part of this resurgence of heavy metal. Some groups such as Def Leppard, Iron Maiden and Saxon went on to gain worldwide recognition but the majority of the other groups disappeared never to be heard of again. Saxon's 1981 release "Denim And Leather" is full of great songs from an era gone by. The guitar talents of Paul Quinn and Graham Oliver cannot be denied with the two exchanging guitar licks on almost every song. Lead singer Biff Byford's voice was the perfect addition to the band's brand of no holds barred rock. Standout cuts on this cd are "Princess Of The Night", "Never Surrender", "Denim And Leather" and "And The Bands Played On". Thankfully Saxon is still around, and although there have been changes within' the group, they still continue to put out great music. Check out their latest cd "Killing Ground" for more great rock!
