Sepultura

Roots

Overrated, not Sepultura's best, but good enough

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (6/10)
Sepultura's last album with frontman Max Cavalera proved to be a somewhat commercial sucess. A lot of kids my age who listen to Max's new band Soulfly either think that this is Sepultura's best album or Sepultura's only album. Well, neither are right. Sepultura's older material was dark, death metal that got your blood flowing and your head banging. While "Roots" is heavy, abrasive, and loud, sometimes they sound too much like Korn. Any longtime Sepultura fan would probably agree with me on that, I recommend Sepultura's older material like "Beneath the Remains" and "Arise" rather than "Roots" or any of Soulfly's stuff, but "Roots" is decent, and was Max's last hurrah with his old band.
