(6/10)
These guys, being the Stratovarius copies that they are, play boring, redundant, and cliched songs. Many of their ideas come from other bands; they are very unoriginal. They can be classified as a melodic speed metal band, but I don't agree with this at all. I would rather have them classified as "hey look its double bass" metal. Their drummer pounds incessantly on his double bass pedal backed by the same recycled guitar/bass metal riff. Also, their lyrics are extremely unimaginative and just plain retarded sometimes. When trying to create a slow mood, they are unsuccessful, ruining it with these mentioned thoughtless lyrics. These guys deserve a 2, but I give them a 3 because of some decent (if sometimes... redundant! like the rest of the disc!) guitar solos, and a great vocalist. The vocals are great in the fact that he does not have the trademark shriek like most speed metal vocalists that specialize in the vein of Stratovarius' awful singer. If you are looking for a thoughtful, talented, well written, conceptual cd, I suggest that you look elsewhere. A good place to start would be Iron Maiden "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son," Dream Theater "Images And Words," or Kamelot "The Fourth Legacy." If you like progmetal, look up Ice Age, more Dream Theater, and maybe even some Pain of Salvation.
