The Beautiful Struggle

Though less impressive than Train of Thought or Black Star, The Beautiful Struggle is an album definitly worth coppin'. If not for most of the cd, than for a few of the standout tracks: Around my way, I Try, Ghetto show (feat.common), and the title track Beautiful Struggle.

Songs from Train of Thought like "Good Morning" and "Expansion Outro," and songs like "Thieves in the Night" from Black Star really cement for me that Talib's real talent lies in his deep and insightful, (and often straight forward flow) lyricism. Of course, nice production helps also. Thats where this album is lacking a little. Maybe it's Hi-tek that I miss, though you can catch him on the great title track (13) "Beautiful Struggle."

Like many of you out there I've been listening to the advance copy of this record for awhile, and let me tell you that this is on a whole different level. Whether it be up or down you decide. The quality of all the tracks are much better and there's some new ones too. Set to the music of The Beatles Eleanor Rigby "Lonely People" produced by kanye West was not included on the album, however, make sure to cop that track somewhere else.

over all, this is a great cd so support Talib Kweli.
