Simply one of the most amazing concious rap efforts ever, Mos Def and Talib Kweli are Blackstar covers a variety of topics found throughout hiphop and does so with unbeliveable through-provoking lyricism. From battle rhymes to bboy-party-jams, the uptempo of "Definition" to the powerful analysis of "Theives in the Night" this is an album that holds an important place in music in general, not only rap. Blackstar's poetry over simple but very fitting beats provides a cornerstone for understanding the society from where this music arose. Mos and Kweli together analyze conflicts within the rap industry on a whole, the misguided lifestyle of many individuals frustrated with poverty, among others. The content in this album is unparalleled.
