First off, putting Mos Def & Talib Kweli together to make an album is one of the best things that could happen in music. Then you add Hi-Tek's production into the mix, and you know already you have a masterpiece. From beginning to end, Black Star comes correct with some of the best music in all kinds of hip-hop.

Before I started giving all kinds of music a chance, I was stuck with gangsta rap, and ONLY gangsta rap. Don't get me wrong, I still love 2Pac, Biggie, G-Unit, ROC and Nas (just to name a few) but broadening my horizons with albums such as Black Star, Reflection Eternal, Black On Both Sides, etc. was probably the best thing I could do for myself. I am an owner of over 500 CD's, and somehow this album manages to find itself getting love every single day. Says a lot huh? Respiration is the most heard of song on this CD, and I'd name favorite tracks but I'd list every single song on here except #5. I think that song lacks just a little bit, but I can still listen to it.

If you listen to any hip-hop, commerical or underground, gangsta or experimental, COP BLACK STAR...If you don't you will be missing out, guaranteed.
