Maybe this will be the album that finally makes it clear to the mainstream that the BeeGees are not (and should not be labeled as) a disco-only group. Frankly, those who do not research the BeeGees' music both before and after disco are really missing out on what is potentially the most meaningful music they will ever have the pleasure of hearing.

Though their post-disco output is excellent in its synthesized, atmospheric grandeur (I would recommend ESP, Size Isn't Everything, and One), This Is Where I Came In is a stripped-down album that marks a return of sorts to the BeeGees' old-fashioned style of music from the late 60's. They recorded most vocals on this album around a single microphone and with the use of few synthesizers.

The brothers Gibb have said that they wanted to experiment with as many different styles of music on this album as they could. Here you will find elements of pop, R&B, rock, jazz, blues, and even a trace of gospel. Highlights include the title track, "She Keeps On Coming", "Wedding Day", "Man In The Middle", "Technicolor Dreams", and "Loose Talk Costs Lives".

This Is Where I Came In is yet another poignant reminder that the BeeGees are a creative musical force to be reckoned with. After 35 years in the business, Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb show through this album that you really can go home!
