what happened to the lyrics? and all the other stuff?

i understand the music's suffered a little what with all the personnel shakeup, but i don't know why it had to turn to formula glam-rock. the drama and depth, the ebb and flow, i just dunno . . . there's 11 attempts at a hit single here, i guess. and some love songs, and some others that make blatant, obliigitory attempts to be "trashy" (actually mosta them are love songs too). and the song structures and sense of dynamics have gone pop too (and chris won't stop trying to be rod stewart, *blatantly* this time). i'm hopin' _lions_ is a comeback from this now that they've got an actual lead guitarist again. by the way, i'd say until this point the crowes have gotten better with age-- TSOC is one of the most underrated albums of the decade. i'll go listen to that instead. and if you prefer this to TSOC . . . well, i just can't fathom it. all y'all who want to praise this to the skies for being "pure rock and roll" don't have an appreciation for craftsmanship and subtlety (go listen to ACDC). this ain't even pure-- it's way, way, way pasteurized.
