The Black Crowes

Live At The Greek

About as close to the real thing as possible

To those of you Led Zeppelin fans who were born too late to see them live, this is a great way to experience the magic of it all. I was pleased to find many of the newer, lesser-known hits such as "In my time of dying," and "Ten Years Gone," included in the mix. As Led Zeppelin progressed they began to emphasize the blues element that was already present in their music. The fact that these songs were chosen worked out great because Chris Robinson and the Crowes' music is drenched with a heavy southern blues vibe. Robinson is just as incoherent as the infamous Plant, which provides a sense of realism to the experience. One thing I missed was conversation in between songs. The music is great, but its fun to hear them introduce songs, or explain how the tune came about. Even so, its a great CD. Pick it up as soon as you can.
