i recently passed up the opportunity to spend tons of cash on lawn seats to the Croww/Page show. I decided instead to invest in this truly unique album. More than just highlight the formidable talents of the Crowes as back-up band with Page taking his turns at lead, this album documents an exciting and rare opportunity to step back in time and into the future all at once. First of all the band is tight and loose at the same time-they groove and sparkle and are very much in sync with one another. It is an overused rock cliche to say "reinvent" when it comes to an album like this. i think these guys were having too much fun to reinvent. I can only imagine the giddy pleasure of backing one of your rock idols-and then to do it without sounding as if you are backing one of your heroes, but rather just enjoying the moment. It's a fantastically fresh and respectful outing. As a fan of both bands, I can wholeheartedly recomend this disc. Enjoy!
