The Church

Somewhat disappointing

Down to a duo for this 1994 disc, The Church seem to miss Peter Koppes like hell. It's a comedown from the brilliance of "Priest=Aura" and all in all probably deserves two-and-a-half stars. It's not bad, though, and is enhanced by the free bonus disc one could send for at the time. But the stabs at "modernism" (electronically processed vocals, the barest taste of trip-hop percussion) don't always serve the group well. "Business Woman," as the band has admitted, is something they probably shouldn't have done. Still, if you pan enough, you'll find a little gold here.
