finaly it's out!!after almost two years of waiting(the same was said about the awful burning london tribute).the clash were known for their live shows and politics more than anything and here you get a taste of what the clash were like live.while some songs that should have been on here are missing(safe european home/bankrobber/stay free/rock the casbah/tommygun/white riot and many others)this is a great shot of live clash!!recorded from various live clash shows from 77-82 it shows the mood and style of the clash throughout their years togather.it shows them at the start of their punk takeover to a more grownup experimental clash.while give 'em enough rope was passed over(why??)all their other albums are represented(except for cut the crap of course-clash fans know why).they take you from pure punk to dub to reggae in 64 minutes(they could have added a few more songs).songs that really stand out are white man in hammersmith palais(my fav. clash tune)/armagideon time/straight to hell/train in vain/city of the dead/capitol radio.all of them are good(i am curious to why they put the same version of i fought the law on here that's on the box set!!).i really like how the songs connect to each other like it's one show!!great cd and a good year in 1999 for the clash!!3 tribute albums/1 live album/1 90 minute documentary/joe is finally(after delays)putting his 1st solo album out in 10 years on nov. 2nd,and a tour!!pretty good for a band that called it quits over 13 years ago!!and next feb.2000 look for all the studio albums remasters!!
