All Things Being Equal, A Great Album

The music contained in this bunch of songs is the reason why so many younger rock groups are ripping off U2. Some longtime U2 fans may feel this is the groups worst cd. That's understandable, in as much as, a group's early hits are always going to be in the front of the minds of original fans. After all, that's why no matter how many songs Robert Plant produces, most old fans will always say "Stairway To Heaven" is great, and everything after represents a descent into the land of the inaudible.

I think the mark of an artist is the freedom to explore and grow, trying and achieving new heights, regardless of popularity. Some music will be popular and some will not. Rather, some old fans will hate Elton's John's musicals, but love his early rocking songs. Some fans will like his musicals only.

Whether, it's Elton, Plant, or Bono, these artists are talented, and as much as I love virtually every other U2 album, I find All That You Can't Leave Behind to be my favorite. A bit commercial, but still rocking, and a great cd for a road trip, yeah?
