Definitive 1980's U2 - excellent

Perhaps I am slightly biased as far as this album goes; it was my very first U2 CD, not even mine, borrowed from my mum's CD case at the tender age of twelve. Eventually I just burned the CD for my own and it was a great introduction to some of U2's best work. This CD taught me the best things about U2, and I am now an avid fan with five CDs and counting.

I have the two-disk version, but I never really warmed up to the B-sides. I'm not sure why. The first disk is unquestionably the better of the two, and to break it down more, the first seven songs are the best of the whole CD. Pride, New Year's Day, With or Without You, Sunday Bloody Sunday, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, and Where The Streets Have No Name are the some of U2's best work of the 1980's, in my opinion.

With or Without You is quite possibly my favorite song ever; not favorite U2 song, favorite song. I think it is muscially perfect, a masterpiece. I fall in love with the guitar part at the beginning of Where the Streets Have no Name every time I listen to it. Some of these songs are simply the best ever written.

I greatly enjoyed this CD because I think it is a definitive statement on the U2 of the 1980's - it condenses their best work of that decade into one brilliant, awesome, must-have CD.
