BEST OF U2-1980-90

A great album from a great band

I am a casual fan of U2, I know a lot of their songs and I own Rattle and Hum. I have recently discovered how good of an album it is. Many people have said that this cd is not good for major fans, but I wouldn't know-I'm not a major fan. But after I bought this I liked U2 a lot more. So here's a casual fan's review of all of the songs:
Pride (In the Name of Love)-Good song. This song is about Martin Luther King Jr., and has a lot of energy. Edge's guitar ringing is absolutely amazing.
New Year's Day-Pretty good. Terrific lyrics, shows how good Bono is at writing songs. A good song.
With or Without You-Moderate. Not my favorite U2 song, but still OK. Later in the song when the pace picks up it's better, but just a medium song to me.
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For-Pretty famous U2 song that's very good. I also like ringing Edge again on this song.
Sunday Bloody Sunday-Larry does a good job on this song. I think it's a very good song. It seems surprising for it to be that good, but it's a great tune.
Bad-Falls under the same category as With or Without You. This is a pretty good song, but not the greatest, only OK.
Where the Streets Have No Name-Very good U2 song from a very good album (Joshua Tree). Nice intro, and good lyrics by Bono.
I Will Follow-Falls in the category of New Year's Day and Sunday Bloody Sunday. A good surprising song like Sunday Bloody Sunday, and I the guitar part part mixed with Larry's drumming sounds amazing.
The Unforgettable Fire-At the beginning it sounds kind of like Bad but slower. Give it a chance though. It's very good.
Sweetest Thing [The Single Mix]-Very very good song. Good piano sound by Adam? Not sure who it is. Anyway, this song is great and once again, shows good lyrics.
Desire-I guess you could say this is a fun song. I already knew this one from Rattle and Hum. Very good.
When Love Comes to Town-Fun song like Desire. An acceptable song. Not the best, but good.
Angel of Harlem-Great song. I also knew this one from Rattle and Hum. But this is a very famous song, and it doesn't dissapoint.
All I Want Is You-An good song. Once again, good lyrics. Kind of is a good all the band song-good job by everyone.
October-Short song but beautiful. Once again, good piano. This song is a slow one but great. It's a hidden track at the end of All I Want Is You and is a great way to end the album.

I bought this album only knowing these songs: Pride, With or Without You, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Where the Streets Have No Name, Sweetest Thing, Desire, and Angel of Harlem. That leaves more than half of the songs, eight, that I didn't know if you count October. So this is the perfect album for a casual fan. Don't worry if you've never heard most of the songs on here-they are great. You will not be wasting your money buying this album. I strongly recommend this album to casual or any fan of U2, a great band.
