Some bands have a great sound, others have terrific lyrics, and both kinds are good, but only when a marriage of the two happens do you get a great (truly great) band. U2 is one of these. What more can one say? The powerful, fresh lyrics combined with Bono's emotional voice, the Edge's shimmering guitar work, and Larry Mullen and Adam Clayton's bass and percussion laying down a smooth track create not only atmosphere, but meaning. The perfect album from the (nearly) perfect band.
