Too much of the same thing gets tiring

Ok mates, let's get honest for a while. All we're U2 fans here, but... where's the excitement in this album ? I mean, all we already have All That You Can't Leave Behind, so why do we need this one ?. As many fans pointed out here, this album has nothing new, neither nothing worthy. It's true City of Blinding Lights is a great song, but what about the rest ?.
Another safe and hyped album isn't pleasant listening for me, really.
This is desperate stuff with hamfisted lyrics and very little room for melodies and new ideas. I really don't know why U2 felt the need in release this half-worked stuff from All That You Can't Leave Behind.
They seem to spend more time in promoting any new album rather than writing truly worthy music for it. This album is musically turgid and thematically empty. After 5 listenings to it, the only words that keep in my mind are MONEY, GRAMMY and IPOD, what a pity.
You could miss this album out entirely, really you could, although if you're a collector fan you'll want to get it. Anyway, in the end you'll realise you were ripped off by this huge marketing campaign.
classic U2 sounding doesn't mean the same keyboards and guitar sections again and again.
I know if you're a casual fan you've been told Zooropa and Pop aren't that good, but now it's time to take a complete and serious listening to both albums ( even better with headphones ). You'll be so excited by that experimental U2, because you'll realise how wonderful those albums are...but you'll be so dissapointed by this hyped sold 2000 band.
Wanna try ?
