How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb (HTDAAB)

lightning in a bottle

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
Never thought they'd match Joshua Tree, but they've done it. Plenty of pop hooks and hummable phrases to be sure, but The Edge provides acid guitar riffs to perfectly complement Bono's by turns agonized and joyful vocals. While they've come close here and there over the years since Joshua Tree, no one album is this tight, this unified, top to bottom, side to side. This must be due to Steve Lillywhite's production efforts - there's not a clinker in the bunch.

When you don't want to hit the forward button to skip even one song on the disc, that's unusual. Atomic Bomb has a rightful place among those truly great albums that deliver the pure pleasure that rock music can provide.
