How To Disappear Completely
Review Score:

(2/10)
I draw the line: it doesn't matter the album. It's all just a pumpin' three-minute radio-friendly commerials. That's all. 'take a look at Bono's glasses !!', 'what an amazing video !!', 'U2's back to ROCK !!'. U2 know the formula: Just a first hit single and they'll have millions of brianwashed posers buying the album just for that song alone. Light music for light people.
The album itself is irrelevant for every one. U2 IS THE GAME, not the album. Yet some fans are happy -specially youngest ones- because they'll have their chance see U2 live, because they want to tell the story to their friends later. 'I attended to a U2 concert this year !!!', nevermind the album itself nor the concert itself. It's just that. They MUST experience U2, otherwise they won't have stories to tell. Do you know what I'm talking about. They MUST experience every new album and every new tour from now on, because they were too young to catch U2 at Zoo Tv or Pop Mart, so they want to be a part of the game now.
How they wish they were us, because we were direct witnesses of the Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby and Pop times.
Let's talk about the album itself:
First of all, it's more of the same cockie, mainstream. Nobody can deny that. If someone deny it, that fan is blinded by his/her devotion. Easily forgettable, this album is just 'hit and miss'. Is there any art here ? No. Is there any experimentation here? is this something NEW?. No, a U2 dimished to their lowest artistic level ever. Predictable songs, boring, pointless, self indulgent, trademarked, as well production. Bono sings as horrible as he can, nevertheless he likes his own voice.
The apathy and lack of interest are present in each aspect of the disc. It's just a failed attempt to re-create the cutting edge sounds of their previous work All That You Can't Leave Behind. A commercialist disgrace. Moreover, the hype that was spread by the propaganda factory and the mass media really annoyed most of U2 fans. They must have all smoked a large amount of crack cocaine before listening to this album, thus being able to declare it a 'return to their roots' or an 'amazing rock album.' In case you don't know, only 3 songs are 'rock', all them crappy filler and silly. The rest are the used ballads and mid tempo numbers, a musical turd.
U2 have lost completely all sense of innovation. I'm embarrassed for them, really. I can't believe they're afraid of change. This sell out band have no more focus or hunger. U2 disrespect their craft and fans with products such as these. GO HOME.
