How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb (HTDAAB)

U2 are completely sell-outs

This is one of U2's finest albums. Every song has been meticulously crafted by a band that sounds like it's 20 years younger. The people giving this album poor reviews mostly a) don't like Bono, or b) don't know much about music. Have you really listened to anything on the radio? Vertigo, All Because of You - these songs are played on mainstream radio but sound nothing like anything on mainstream radio today or ever. Ever wonder why not many people can cover U2 songs? It's because it's nearly impossible to sound even close to as good. Bob Dylan said it himself: "Your songs are great, but no one's going to be able to play them." This coming from the man who wrote All Along the Watchtower, which was probably covered most famously and finely by Jimi Hendrix. The rest of the album is very nearly brilliant, with not a dud in sight. The best song is Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own, with Bono's heartfelt vocals and Edge's simple-yet-effective jangling guitar. It's their best song since One. I don't know what people are thinking when they give this album a bad review. Just because you hate U2 or think they should be retired doesn't give you any right to troll around Amazon and crap on their new album. Show me a better collection of songs this year. I doubt you could. And no way in hell is U2 overrated. The Joshua Tree is, if not the greatest, in the top 5 greatest albums ever conceived. And when you can make an album like How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb 17 years after you became the biggest band in the world, you know that you've got something special. Name another band that has stayed on top for so long. Critics like them because they can still make brilliant music, not because they're aging hipsters. Trollers, find something better to do with your lives. Maybe learning a bit about music would do you some good. It certainly couldn't hurt.

Mediocre album from a great band

This is a disappointing release from an all-time great band. Reviewers have said that the Edge shines on this CD and he does. These kudos [ ... read complete review ]
