I think I fell off of the U2 bandwagon somewhere around Rattle and Hum. I have no idea what Achtung Baby and all the 90's stuff sounded like. I picked this up because I'd heard it was gonna be great. First play I sort of shrugged my shoulders and said, yep, that's U2. But now I can't stop playing it. Lots of energy, passion, and possibly some of Bono's finest lyric writing "Freedom has a scent like the top of a newborn baby's head" That's pretty cool. If you are schooled in Biblical scripture you will pick up references from the Gospels all over the place - Vertigo has a reference to the story of the devil tempting Christ from the top of the Temple - "All this can be yours" in a tune called Vertigo - get it? Love the pun.

This disk is very overtly Christian without being corny about it, lots of reference to what I believe is the lost message of Jesus - Love your neighbor as yourself and life is an incredibly tough row to hoe but you don't have to go it alone.

And a brand new heart.

Powerful, passionate music, great lyrics, wonderful message... What more do you want?
