Proves U2 has the guts!

This album was U2 in an experimental mode.No other band with U2's credentials,with a reputation like U2's on the line,would have the [guts] to put this kind of an album out.As Bono had said,this album was made at a time when rock-n-roll had gotten very dull and boring,very "long in the tooth".Grunge was down to it's last breath,and people were looking for something interesting.U2 was working with a famous British DJ(Howie B)trying to create something interesting,an alternative to the "alternative" rock that radio programmers were trying to spoon feed an audience that had eaten too much of that type of music.What they came up with was a kind of dance rock on acid that the listener was being allowed to surf on.This album was pigeonholed as "techno",when in fact it contained some of The Edge's best riffs since Achtung Baby.Unfortunately this album came out ahead of it's time;if it was released now maybe it would have recieved more positive attention.For those people who think that this album was a mistake,I say.....when you are in a band that has the same 4 members 25 yrs. later,has put out as many multi platinum classic albums as U2 has,and are as relevant today as they were a decade ago.........then come talk to me.
