This is not the best by U2... you'd have to do pretty good to top albums like The Joshua Tree, and Achtung Baby... but this is an awesome album... and I think a lot of people are scared away from this because it's such a radical departure (however not half as radical as Zooropa in my opinion)... You can't expect, well shouldn't expect bands to produce the same music over and over, and the sad thing is that most bands do produce the same thing over and over... U2 is all about change, and they have always remarkably changed and reinvented there sound... this album is very technoish, but is a rock album... Radiohead has been praised the last little while for their blending of rock and techno and bringing it to a big market... but really U2 did it before them... Achtung Baby was their Ok Computer (dabbling in techno), Zooropa was their Kid A (more of a jump into Techno) and this is their Amnesiac (a more successful blending of techno and rock then their previous)... I own every album U2 released, and this ranks at the top of the list... yes it's different from everything they've released, but if you get past that and just listen you hear great songs... Discoteque is a fun rocker... Do You Feel Loved is a great, beautiful rocking song... If God Would Send His Angels is a beautiful softer song... it's all great, but you need to listen to this with open ears... Radiohead is one of my favorite bands, blending rock and techno, but U2 did it before them...
