Pop is an extemely complex album both lyrically and musically. This is why the more I listen to it, the more I enjoy it. It desrved Rock Album of the Year at the Grammy's. The album is full of great tunes, the best of which include "Discotheque", "Staring At The Sun", and "Last Night On Earth". The lyrics are powerful, especially the ones with Christian references. "If God Will Send His Angels" decrys the moral collapse of society, while "Wake Up Dead Man" is a desparate plea for Jesus to return to earth. "Playaboy Mansion" speaks about Heaven and humans messed up ideas about it. Bono's voice is passionate and mellow, fitting perfectly with the lyrics. Add to that great melodies and you got yourself another steller release from the greatest Rock band still around.
