With all that said, I really like what I've heard so far on this new album. Phil Moog's voice is very recognizable, though darker and a lower-pitched than he sang on the classic live album. Schenker sounds great - he hasn't allowed his hallowed tone to be overly "influenced" by the thin, fuzz-box tone of so many '90's bands. His leads are classic Schenker. The drums on this album are handled by veteran drummer Aynsley Dunbar. The keyboards (which are relatively subdued for the most part) are handled by Kevin Carlson. It may be of interest to some listeners to note that this disc was produced by Shrapnel Records' Mike Varney and not Ron Nevinson, like serveral of their other efforts. The overall production seems more towards the raw side and I think it suits the material well and lends a little extra edge to the whole atmosphere.
One other important note is that the initial pressing of this album from Shrapnel Records includes a bonus disc of 7 tunes recorded live, reportedly in 1995. The songs on that disc span UFO's career from their early days up to "Walk on Water".
I think UFO fans who won't mind seeing this band grow and mature will really enjoy this disc. A very good, honest, straight-forward UFO record.
