Fair album, by no means a classic
Review Score:

(6/10)
UFO's quality started to decline with this album. It's not due to Paul Chapman: after all, "No Place to Run" was a better studio album than most of the ones with Schenker, due to every song being good. The last couple of albums with Schenker were not very focused, and Chapman's presence made UFO more of a song-oriented band. Chapman doesn't have Schenker's brilliance, but his melodic playing suits the songs very well, and that's especially a good approach for a studio album. (By the way, I saw them live on the tour for this album and..... one word: freeeeeaking incredible). The problem is, after "No Place", the guys found it harder and harder to come up with a complete album's worth of good material. "Long Gone" and "Lonely Heart" may be catchy, but they're still filler. The best songs here ("Chains Chains", "Makin' Moves", "WWI") don't lose anything, and the lesser tracks are at least listenable. The best songs here are well worth having, and the others are diehards-only kind of stuff. To those who gave this album five stars- I'm glad you enjoyed it so much, but I've listened to it an awful lot and I wouldn't recommend it except to hardcore fans. However, it is better than "Mechanix" or "Making Contact".
