Uriah Heep

Through the ups and downs of Uriah Heep's career, the one thing you could say about them was that they were always interesting. But what is *this*? Uriah Heep for the MTV era? I tracked this down on used vinyl and from the moment the first track, "Rockarama", started, I knew this was going to be a painful experience. The imagination and experimentation of their 1970s work is gone entirely, and there's little of the energy that characterized their more mainstream early 1980s albums like "Head First". This is just overproduced pop, probably intended to break into the teen market with something MTV-friendly. The best track here is "Hour of the Wolf", because it's the only one that recalls the Uriah Heep of old. The rest should not be touched with a ten foot pole. If it's MTV-era pop you want, get Mr. Mister or Starship instead. If you absolutely must, give this a listen but then do penance by watching the Spinal Tap movie.
