Usher- 8701 (2001, Arista/BMG/RCA)

4 years after the average "My Way", Usher has really outdone himself again in "8701". His style remains the same of flash, dance, but the guy has pure talent. This album is up to par with his debut classic. This album does have some cheesy moments with duets (with P. Diddy, Jermain Dupri, etc...), however, most of the album is very good. Amid from garbage like Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Ashanti and a lot of other pop music for that matter, Usher is one pop star who makes music that's more meaningful... more sorta... "senseful". It may sound corny to many, but it's honest. Usher may be flashy, but he's not in music for flash and prestige. My most personal favorite song in this album seems to be "Can U Help Me". It's a the most meaningful modern pop song on any pop album today. i've heard rumours about Usher working so hard on this album that at one point, he's passed out. 8701 is a great album that every pop fan should have.
