1997, basically, was definitely not a good year for me, nor for music. Bubblegum pop crisis (music) was coming back to the scene amid all of the terrible rap/gangsta music that was floating all around. Then, we have Usher coming back after 3 years from his excellent debut release. The first single "You Make Me Wanna" was largely played by a number of radio stations. Many of us rushed out to buy the album. And how regretful do I feel buying this album that has the GPA of around 2.0 (which is good, for an album, but not worth it). Usher stepped down the stairs of success with me when he made songs like "You Will Be Mine" (with a terrible sample of The Isley Brothers' "Footsteps in the Dark") & "Just Like Me" with a duet from the untalented, sex-obsessed, flashy & nasty-as-vomit Lil' Kim. Many artists don't make these kind of albums anymore... well, American artists at that. Albums that only have 9-10 songs & how short this album is reminded me of albums from the 70s & 80s. Very simple, "My Way" does have some very nice songs like "My Way", "Slow Jam" (which is a re-make from an incredible 1983 ballad) & "Bedtime". For true Usher fans, this album may be very good. However, for real music fans who even like Usher, we knew Usher could have done better, and he did with his recent "8701". "My Way" only has 4 remarkable songs that are enjoying or even worth listening to. "My Way" is an album of it's time, a time where real music was long lost in space & alive in the state of bliss. Forget about this one.
