No Filler, A Pleasant Ride.

Whew! This really takes me back to my Navy days. Me and some of my friends rode around Virginia Beach bumpin' this CD at all hours of the night and partying 'till dawn! While Usher's sophomore LP is not quite a life-altering experience, it is a remarkably tight, melodic, fun and consistent listen from start to finish. His voice had matured into a confident, assured tenor and he clearly is having the time of his life on all these tracks. At a little over 40 minutes, "MY WAY" doesn't overstay it's welcome and it packs more quality R&B into it's time than a dozen 75 minute CD's combined. The title track is my fave, but a second close choice is the seductive slow-jam "I Will" (a nice contribution from Teddy Riley) and the guitar blessed "Nice 'n' Slow" (a pretty run of the mill tune, but it gets cool points for the nifty guitar lick). 9 originals and 1 remix, and it all runs in classic LP time. More artists should take a page from the book of brevity.
