This disc showcases the best work by Van Halen with Sammy Hagar-without a doubt. OU812 was boring, Carnal was better, the live disc was so-so. Right out of the box here everything sounds better (literally). This is one of the best sound recordings of the band-full and wide in scope with each instrument clearly defined in the sound spectrum.

'The seventh seal' is a great rocker. As a bass player I really enjoy listening to Michael Anthony's bass playing on this song in particular. The single 'Don't tell me' was the first song I heard in years from this band that actually caught my attention. Of course, there are a few cheesy ones: ballads and instrumentals that serve no purpose and disrupt the flow of the disc. But overall, if I were going to listen to anything from 1985 to 1995, this would be it. This is a pretty strong return to form for Van Halen.
