In similar fashion of The Whos: Ultimate Collection and The Rolling Stones: 40 Licks, Warner Bros brings us a 2-disc Van Halen hits collection. Unlike the formentioned collections, not much is held back, the track list speaks for itsef. This is the real "Best of" we've been waiting for. As usual everything has been remastered (again) some for better some for the worst. The highlight of the remastering work can be heard on the OU812 tracks: Finish What You Started, Black & Blue and Feels So Good. Finish What You Started sounds like a different take (and countrary to what others have stated, it has not been cut short- it is in fact longer! The original fades a few seconds before the rough cut ending). The low point of this collection is the new material. It needed a bit more polishing, the new songs sound forced and the band sounds tired. The three live tracks at the end (all featuring Sammy Hagar singing David Lee Roth era songs) should have been cut in favor of Without You and Fire In The Hole so that the Gary Cherone era could have at least been paid some respect.
