Don't listen to the crybabies!!!

I guess there are a lot of Motley Crue fans here or something, cause the number of 1 star reviews for this release is insaine!!! I've heard so many complaints that have no substantial grounds whatsoever it makes me wonder why Amazon has even allowed them to be published!!! Anyways, First I'm going to counter a few of the complaints before I get into this review:

"VH already has Best of Vol 1. They should have done Best of Vol 2!!! This collection SUCKS!!!"

How long have these people been listening to music??? Many times, especially in recent years as CD manufacturing costs have been going down, record companies release more complete compilations of artist's work. I don't see too many Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Who, etc. fans whining over something so trivial.

"These are all old songs, and the new ones SUCK!!! Don't get this!!!"
I never knew so many people had no idea what a "greatest hits" album was. For those people who have never purchased a CD in their life, allow me to explain. A greatest hits album (sometimes called a 'best-of') gets together all of the band's biggest hits and puts them all in one package so fans can listen to a band's best work minus the fillers. Now sometimes they'll put on a few new tracks just to get some interest, but ususally these songs are not very good, though there are exceptions. ANYONE here that is trying to review this as a 3 song package rather than a greatest hits album should be shot down because they are too stupid to live!!!

"It's not in chronilogical order!!! Now it sucks!!!"
There are just as many gratest hits albums that are not in chronilogical order as there are in chronilogical order. Always has, and always will be. I sometimes find it more enjoyavle when they are in random order, as it makes the album more exciting and freash to listen to as it mixes up all the band's eras into one listening experence. But for those you who MUST have it in chronilogical order, many sites including Amazon are listing the track listing in chronilogical order. For those of you who are too lazy to check the top of the page, here it is:

"Sammy is on it!!! SUCKAGE!!!"
I will admit DLR > SH, but Sammy wasn't ALL that bad. And whether you like to admit it or not, the band did release a number of hits with Sammy. But for those of you who MUST NOT listen to Haggar, check the list above. You can see that even with Sammy, this is still a very fine collection of DLR songs despite missing a few fan favs.

Overall this is the best VH compliation EVER!!! Both Dave and Sammy eras covered beautifully to make this pretty much a definitive collection. Sure there are a few crybabies out there that are upset that Van Halen didn't consolte them directly so this release would be EXACTLY the way they wanted it, but I have two words for these rejects: CD BURNER. I suggest they invest in one if they don't like how Eddie put together this album.

Why another greatest hits?

While "Best Of Both Worlds" easily supplants the original Greatest Hits from 1997, it is also a very poorly executed deal. There a [ ... read complete review ]
