This compilation provides a good mix of David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar Van Halen. I'm going to guess that VH leader, Eddie Van Halen had perhaps planned on releasing another Best Of down the road, so that's why he left off some tracks that diehard fans would've liked to have seen on this collection. With that said, this Best Of is best enjoyed for an hour drive in the car. After all, that's what VH is all about. Having a good time. Over the last 25 years, VH has had some good rockin' hits and this collection has them. That's what the listener wants. We get DLR era VH hits like Ain't Talkin Bout Love, Runnin' With the Devil, Unchained, Jump, and Panama. Then there's the Sammy Hagar era VH hits like Why Can't this Be Love, Dreams, When It's Love, Poundcake and Right Now. Two tracks that are forgettable on this disc would be the "new" David Lee Roth Van Halen songs Me Wise Magic and Can't Get This Stuff No More. Back in 1996, when this album was released, good old Diamond Dave thought he was going to be back in the VH fold when he recorded these two weak songs. Well, Eddie Van Halen had other plans. Poor Dave was there just to cut some new tracks and then his butt was kicked out the door. Regardless, enjoy this album at full volume and skip the last two songs.
