The best of the only legendary band of the '80s

There were a lot of megastar bands in the '80s: Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Guns n' Roses. But Van Halen, with their stunning originality and massive influence, are the only true legends.
The real attraction on Greatest Hits is the two new songs with frontman David Lee Roth. Now, let's be honest, funny and entertaining the flamboyant Roth may have been, but he could never really sing. Such minor shortcomings don't matter here though. Roth puts in a more than adequate performance to add muscle to two almighty new VH tracks. They sound modern, vital, and exciting, and prove that, if only they could get their act together, Van Halen could conquer the world all over again.
There are no less than nine US top 40 VH hits not included on this Best Of Van Halen, but it has a look at both the Roth and Hagar eras and is packed with classic songs and revolutionary guitar playing.
