This album lacks many important tracks from Van Halen's career. When I was going to begin purchasing Van Halen music, I chose to buy all the albums instead of just this album. I'm glad I made that decision! There are so many good tracks, singles and cuts that were left off. Many include "You Really Got Me," "Jamie's Cryin',"Beautiful Girls," "Everybody Wants Some," "Romeo Delight," and one of my favorites, "Mean Street." Sammy Hagar tracks excluded were such ones as "Summer Nights," "Best Of Both Worlds," "Feels So Good," and "Finish What Ya Started." Instead, tracks such as the pathetic "Eruption" and two horrid tracks by Roth (made for the album) were included. Not one track from the Diver Down album from 1982, was taken, and only one track from 1981's eerie Fair Warning album, was picked, "Unchained." Van Halen should have stuck to their original plan of making a two-disc set, one with Roth and the other with Hagar. It is just impossible to include the best-of Van Halen on one CD. It's ironic that this album is what lead to the tormoil that still troubles the band. Sammy Hagar was thrown from the band, and Roth made a total jerk of himself onstage during the music awards. Since then, Van Halen has released a "Van Halen 3" that didn't even go platinum. The group is still looking for a lead singer, with Roth attempting to fit the bill. Only time will tell if this band can recover from disaster that was caused by this album.
