So many people have waited for a greatest hits CD by these guys, just to escape the torment of having to buy those mammoth boxes. Also, some of the albums are very hard to find these days, esp their self-titled debut. However, when you go through the track listing of this "Greatest Hits", you may wonder how so many REAL hits aren't included. As you could read in the first review, they originally thought of creating a 2-CD set. It wouldv'e been excellent, for the casual, die-hard, and even a non-fan. It's very obvious how (for whoever the fault must fall on) they clogged up this single package with all they can. Imagine, nearly twenty songs, plus 3 new (not mentioning sub-par) tracks!!! What happens??? You miss out on HITS such as 'You Really Got Me','Hot for Teacher' as well as 'Love Walks In','Top of the World'. As for the songs included, excluding the 3 new tracks, they're pretty good. They SHOULD be!!! That's the only thing right here. All the expected classics are here. The packaging itself is quite neat, although the guys could've made it better by placing some lines of thought or whatever fun they could think about. Guess all we could do is appreciate the effort the guys put on here, and celebrate the times when these four-five guys rocked the world down. Lastly, we sure hope that two-three years from now they'd release some better 'Best of Van Halen' material. VOLUME1???? What's that for right?
