Van Halen

Live: Right Here, Right Now

Could be so much better

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (6/10)
The mixing is terrible (the cymbals are way too high, and the only time Eddie's guitar is clear is "316"), the tracklist is so biased it's not even funny (these guys had a singer called David Lee Roth??), but at least the performances are tight, if unremarkable. The guitar solos are really fleshed out and fired up by Eddie, but once again, the mixing renders them too quiet. The bass and drum solos are masturbatory and unnecessary, and the 10 out of 11 songs from "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" would have been better served to showcase some classics from the DLR era. A quaint reminder of Van Halen's live skills, but how about some more DLR songs? Or better yet, a classic live album from that era?
