Boring

I remember being all jazzed that one of my favorite bands was finally releasing a live album....I got home Put the Van Halen Right Here Right Now CD in the stereo, turned it up, laid back, and fell asleep. There are several problems with this live release. First of all most of the songs are lacking in energy. Van Halen can be an excellent live band but most tracks sound like those let's hurry up and get this over with kind of gigs. Ain't Talking Bout Love in particular lacks bite. The cover of Won't Get Fooled Again is not up to Van Halen standards. Also, the bass solo, pretentiously named Ultra Bass, is totally unnecessary. Michael Anthony at best is a mediocre bass player. In his solo he doesn't really play his instrument. He just makes a lot of effect noises. Yeah. In 1987 Van Halen released a video called Live Without A Net from the 5150 tour. Too bad that was not released with a companion CD. That recording is far superior to this dreck. This CD is about has fun as listening to a concert from the t shirt stand in the parking lot.
