I like Cherone's style. He is not only the best lead singer this band has ever had, he also writes very poetically, like he did with the masterful Extreme in the late 80's. Van Halen were a bunch of fools to fire him, but then again, the business sense of these guys has been totally off target since the late 70's, when they started. Why would they have a clue now?

Cherone cuts deep with his words and voice. While "Raging" Roth and "Hellion" Hagar only wrote about partying and lots of girls, Cherone writes about what truly matters in life, like helping the poor and loving your mom. If you don't believe me, just listen to the beauty within this album.

That's not to say, however, that the old party-time, hard rock side of VH does not show up on this album, cuz it does a few times. Of course, Eddie should treat the microphone like a poisonous snake, since his vocals are right about on par with a pre-pubescent Peter Brady. But hey, his fingers still ride the guitar strings like wildfire, and some have even suggested that he and Cherone just take off together and do their own music. I second that!!

Well, check this album out if you want some classic Halen, especially the song "Fire in the Hole," or whatever the hell it's called. I think you'll dig it.
