3.5 Stars. There are some absolute similarities between Velvet Revolver's debut and Audioslave's first release. Both of the albums have some great tracks and some average tracks. Both of them sound like these bands' roots which are rock's two of the greatest ever.Neither of them has enough power to make an impact on the modern music scene or changing rock music's direction. And finally they are fairly good and promising albums.Velvet Revolver's first single 'Slither' kicks off with one of Slash's trademark monster riffs and continues without losing it's dark edge. But the real good offerings are blues-punk-rock cocktail of 'Sucker Train Blues' and the power ballad 'Fall to Pieces' where Scott Weiland shines as a great rock n'roll singer. Not to mention the excellent 'Set Me Free' which was previously appeared on 'Hulk' soundtrack; this will stay in your cd changer for months.
