Best of the Best

Since I was already a fan of Guns n' Roses and Stone Temple Pilots, a marriage of the bands had an effect on me similar to that of a moth to an open flame. Although this isn't my favorite album of all time, I appreciate that the band has utilized their strengths.

Guns n' Roses had excellent instrumentals but, I have to be in a certain mood for Axl Rose's high-pitched singing. Scott Weiland has a voice much easier on the ears, but his backing instrumentals couldn't compare with that of Slash and Adler and the lyrics he wrote were enigmatic to say the least. Velvet Revolver has combined awesome instrumentals with lyrics that make sense delivered by a good voice. I have to say I feel sorry for the band's children since maintaining the mindset that "dad isn't cool" will be difficult with the birth of this super-group.
