This album is what gve birth to the genre of Black Metal. Bands such as Burzum, Immortal and Dimmu Borgir all, to a degree, owe gratitude to Venom for inventing the genre. It isn't quite as "black" as future black metal albums by other metal band, however. There aren't growling, demonic vocals giving praise to Odin. In fact, this album almost has a thrash metal feel to it. However, hat doesn't detract from the album one bit. Black Metal should be in every metal head's music library.
