Whitney Houstons stunning debut is amongst her most unique recordings (and there have been many) and was a tremendous start to a highly succesful career. Some tracks steer into a pop sound on tracks such as HOW WILL I KNOW and THINKING ABOUT YOU but that is by no means a criticism as they are really, really great. However its the love ballards SAVING ALL MY LOVE FOR YOU and THE GREATEST LOVE OF ALL which turned this into the success it became and deserved. Amongst other great album cuts includes the lush TAKE GOOD CARE OF MY HEART, SOMEONE FOR ME and YOU GIVE GOOD LOVE (Houstons first U.S release). Michael Masser who worked his magic on the legendary Diana Ross in the seventies repeated his trick perfectly on this thoroughly excellent album and Houstons voice is just amazing.
